IN THE MAP PACK
Local SEO, class pages and seasonal planning, aimed at the person who decided on New Year's Eve and is picking a gym on their phone the next morning.
Almost every search is local and almost every one says near me. That means the map pack decides it, not your homepage, and the map pack rewards proximity, reviews, photos and a listing that is kept up to date. The other difference is timing: people pick a gym in January and before summer, and the rankings have to be in place before the rush, not during it.
Three months before the season you care about. Local rankings move in weeks, not days, and the January searches start on the first of the month. A gym that starts in December is chasing a rush it has already missed. Start in September or October and you are on the map when your town decides.
On spinning class in your city, often not, and you do not need to. The aggregators bring people who would never have found you. What you can win is your own name, your neighbourhood and your discipline: boxing gym in a particular district, reformer pilates near a particular station. Someone who finds you on an aggregator and then searches your name should land on your site and buy a membership, not another drop-in.
Usually, yes. Most booking widgets load inside an iframe, and Google reads the page around it and not the schedule inside it. As far as search is concerned, you have no classes. We give each class type its own page with times, level and coach, and keep booking where it is.
One page and one Google Business Profile per location, each with its own photos, coaches, class mix and reviews. Location pages that only change the address are the fastest way to rank for none of them. We start with the site that has the most room to grow and roll out from there.
Access to your site, analytics, Search Console and Google Business Profiles, which booking software you use, and where your new members say they found you. That last one matters most. Without it we cannot show you what an organic member is actually worth to you.
