HE DECIDES IN THE NEXT TWENTYMINUTES, ON A PHONE, WITHINA MILE. BE THE ONE HE FINDS.
Reported in walk-ins and calls, not impressions.
Walk-ins, four-week cycles and what an empty chair costs.

Plain monthly numbers. No dashboard homework.
Slow pages, dead links and a site Google cannot read properly.
Be one of the three shown for "barber near me" on your streets.
The listing that decides it, long before anyone opens your site.
Google filters by "open now". Wrong hours means you vanish.

The searches nobody in your town has bothered to answer.

RESULTS THAT MOVE THE NEEDLE!
Technical SEO, local search and service pages, aimed at the man deciding right now, a few streets away, with his phone already in his hand.
The decision window. A salon client books a colour three weeks out and researches it properly. Your customer decides on the walk from the bus stop, wants somewhere open now without a long wait, and is back in four weeks. That makes your opening hours, your map pack position and your review count worth more than almost anything on your website.
It works better, because there is less standing between the search and your door. The job becomes appearing in the map pack for "near me" and "open now", keeping your hours right every week including the odd ones, and making the photos and reviews pick you out of the three shops Google shows.
More than anything else you can fix in an afternoon. Google filters by "open now", so wrong hours means you disappear at the exact moment somebody wants you. A bank holiday nobody updated costs a full day of walk-ins and there is no way to win those back.
Not by fighting over the word "barber". You win the searches nobody local has answered properly: specific cuts, beard work, children, and textured or afro hair, which in most towns is the biggest gap and the search with the most frustrated people behind it.
Good, and worth capturing rather than resenting. People search a barber by name and follow him when he moves. A page for each chair, with his work and the cuts he does, catches those searches and points them at the shop. If he does leave, the page and its ranking stay with you.
Your Google Business Profile above all, your real opening hours including the ones that change, and a handful of recent photos of your own work. If you have no website at all, say so. For some shops the profile is the whole job, and we would rather tell you that than sell you a site you do not need.
